If you find, or are in possession of, a BOC cylinder but you are not a BOC customer, here’s how you can return a cylinder to us.

Please note: The following process is only applicable if you do not have a BOC account.

If you do not have a BOC account, the quickest and easiest way to return a BOC gas cylinder from your property is to take it directly to one of our sites. With over 50 Gas & Gear stores and 300 BOC Agents across the country, we are sure to be close by.

How to confirm you have a BOC cylinder

We are only able to accept the return of BOC cylinders. To establish if the cylinder is BOC-owned, look for a label or stamp on the cylinder, cylinder guard or on the cylinder valve. If you can’t find the BOC name or logo, it is not likely to be a BOC cylinder, and it will need to be returned to the company that originally supplied the cylinder.

Returning a cylinder safely

Please bear in mind the following safety advice when returning a cylinder to your local BOC collection point. Some simple safety precautions should be taken, such as:

Do not smoke whilst carrying cylinders
Check cylinders for obvious signs of leakage, for example hissing sounds
Close cylinder outlet valves if open
Secure the cylinders properly so that they cannot move in transit (Ideally valve upright) and not sticking out beyond the sides or end of your vehicle
If your vehicle does not have a separate open compartment to secure the cylinders in transit, ensure it is at least well-ventilated with open windows
Do not expose cylinders to sources of heat

Please note: cylinders can be heavy and should only be moved if safe to do so.

Synergy Recycling can arrange collection for all types of cylinders nationwide (including BOC cylinders). They may charge for this service depending on type/quantity cylinders being collected.

Alternatively, if you have BOC cylinders, we can collect from your property:

Collections of cylinders attract a charge from £87.95+ VAT. The lead time for collection is up to 15 weeks. Please note for this service we may need to share your details with a third party.

On the day of collection, we will need clear access to the cylinders. As long as we can get access to the location of the cylinder with a trolley, we can collect from your garage or shed, however we will not be able to carry up or down stairs.
